The New Garden

A couple of weeks ago we decided to re-do the garden out the front and do it properly this time by laying weed matting. We also re-did the garden by the driveway and Cole helped to sweep up the leaves and put them in the garden bin.

He also helped out the front, digging, and trying to plant sticks...
Scott did the initial digging and then we put down the weed matting. I found a great deal on some plants on Trade Me, but after we'd planted them the garden looked like it needed some more so the next day it was off to Kings Plant Barn.
We picked up a few more plants and really noticed the difference in price between the ones at the shop (about $6-7 each) and the ones from Trade Me ($3 each)! Cole found some sprayers which he was really interested in and pretended to squirt us!
And then finally we finished! Our neighbour, Pete, was kind enough to offer us some of his mulch from when he had cut down some of his trees and put them through a chipper. And we added some volcanic rocks that were sitting down the back of our place.
All in all, a fabulous weekends work!
